Every single day as I sit at my computer, there is a police scanner at my side. And every single day there are multiple calls for suspected domestic violence. Every Single Day.

This is not just for our area, believe me. It is a horrible situation that permeates through our entire society.

Someone needs to read this today. Please know that help is available.

If someone you love is hurting you or threatening to hurt you, your children, your pets, or other family members, you could be a victim of domestic violence. The Family Sunshine Center can help! Consider the following options:

If you are in immediate danger, call 911. Local police officers and sheriff’s deputies can help you reach safe shelter.

The 24-hour Information and Resource Hotline Number is 334.263.0218 (collect calls are accepted) or 1.800.650.6522. The toll-free statewide number will connect you to the shelter program that serves the area from which you call. 1.800.787.3224 for the hearing impaired. All calls are completely confidential.
