Book on Early Alabama History Donated to Autauga/Prattville Public Library

General Patrick May Chapter (Montgomery) of the United States Daughters of 1812

On July 22, 2021 officers of the General Patrick May Chapter, U.S. Daughters of 1812 donated the book Early Alabama: An Illustrated Guide to the Formative Years, 1798-1826, by Mike Bunn, to the Autauga/Prattville Public Library. Mary Buehler and Barbara Russell presented the book to Library Director, Lindsey Milam, and Library Associate, Rachel Ellison.

Mr. Bunn is author or co-author of several books on Gulf South history focusing on the colonial, early statehood, antebellum, and Civil War periods. Mr. Bunn is the current Director of Historic Blakeley State Park in Spanish Fort, Alabama.

Previously, he directed the Historic Chattahoochee Commission (a bi-state agency operating in southeastern Alabama and southwestern Georgia), and worked as a curator with the Columbus (Georgia) Museum and the Mississippi Department of Archives and History’s Museum of Mississippi. He has also worked with the Birmingham Historical Society and the Tuscaloosa County Preservation Society. The book will soon be available in the library’s Alabama Room.
