Millbrook Police were called earlier this evening, when a young, special needs boy was found apparently lost and walking in the area of Chapman Road and Main Street.
The six-year-old boy was taken into custody safely. Reports came into the department of the young boy wondering around the Main Street area.
When the child was found, he was wearing a diaper and blue shirt. Details are limited at this time, but DHR has been contacted, and officers are speaking with the parents.
Millbrook Police Chief P.K. Johnson said he is very grateful to alert neighbors and people in the area who immediately called his officers for help. It is not clear why the parents had not called 911, but when officers arrived at the house the parents were actively looking for the child.
“Our office got a call about the special needs child wondering in the area. Our officers along with assistance from the Millbrook Fire Department successfully located the child. We were able to reach the parents and also contacted DHR. DHR responded to the scene and in doing so, they helped us locate the parents of the child. At this time the child is safe, and that is always our main goal,” Chief Johnson said.
The matter remains under investigation, and at this time it is not known how the child came to be walking in the area.
