Almost $10,000 Raised through ‘Yappy Barkday Pawty’ for HSEC

FROM THE HUMANE SOCIETY OF ELMORE COUNTY

We are a lucky Shelter indeed!   Elizabeth Barber, the clinic manager at Blue Ridge Animal Clinic, 4422 Wetumpka Hwy, Montgomery held her 6th annual ‘Yappy Barkday Pawty’ Fundraiser to celebrate a very special doggy birthday!

Her Phoenix was adopted from our Shelter and is a most loved and very special dog indeed. With each succeeding year this event has grown and because of Elizabeth’s efforts and the support of Dr. Busby and everyone at Blue Ridge Animal Clinic, we are thrilled to announce that this year’s event raised just short of $10,000 and a HUGE truckload of food & supplies to help our pets! So HUGE thank you to everyone who donated and stopped by to help make this a huge success! And please make sure to thank everyone at Blue Ridge Animal Clinic and most especially Elizabeth and Phoenix for helping our Shelter like this!

We also want to do a shout-out to Brett Fuller at The Furry Kid, Main Street Wetumpka, and Andrea Peele of The Market Shoppes for coming up with the most awesome and first ever, Pooches on the Coosa event held on 11 June in downtown Wetumpka. If you missed it you will definitely want to look out for this event next year as it was a blast seeing all the dogs dressed up in their evening, beach and other fancy finery.

And there are also many talented pooches in our area as they showed off some most spectacular tricks to the large crowd of pet-loving people and their very loved and spoiled pooches! Tonya Terry lent her voice as the Master of Ceremonies and everyone simply had a grand time with their dogs, winning prizes and raising money that is benefitting our Shelter pets. Because of a lot of hard work by Brett, Andrea and a host of other people they raised almost $900 for our Shelter on this very first go around! We know this event is going to grow and grow and look forward to the fun again next year!

And make sure to mark your calendar and join us for another fun dog-oriented event Bark in the Park 2021 on Sunday, 19 September, 1-5 PM at Ft. Toulouse. If you are a vendor and would like to join in on the fun, just send an email to [email protected] for more information. We will get more info posted on our website shortly.
