Patriotism was in full effect on Saturday morning, as hundreds of people from the River Region and beyond attended the City of Prattville’s Independence Day parade. This was the city’s first time holding the event since 2019, due to COVID concerns in 2020.

American flags flew, people cheered, and the atmosphere was electric as the community gathered together to celebrate one of the most important times in United States history.

The grand marshal in this year’s celebration was lineman from Alabama Power and Central Alabama Electric Coop. They were on the front lines when the EF1 tornado struck Prattville back on May 4th of this year.

Others, including firefighters, police, boy scouts, city league sports teams, the Prattville pops, and many more, were participants in the parade as well – throwing candy, beads, and flags for families to enjoy.

After the parade, many from the event walked to Pratt Park to get ready for the Lions Club BBQ. The event had live music, vendors, crafts, inflatables, and of course, great food such as bulk BBQ, quart stew, pork, and chicken.

The Lions Club BBQ will continue their event until 2:00 p.m. this afternoon. Also makes sure to check out the ‘Souled Out Groove Concert’ tonight at Pratt Park from 6-10 p.m.

The 4th of July Firework Show will take place tomorrow night, at dark, at the Homeplace Clocktower.
