Tallassee Man Charged with Reckless Murder involving Feb. 5 Vehicle Accident that Killed Juvenile

Montgomery Post – Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division on Friday, April 16, arrested the driver involved in a single-vehicle crash Friday, Feb. 5, resulting in the death of a Tallassee teen. At approximately 11:18 a.m., Troopers arrested Anthony Reed Gann, 29, also of Tallassee, in Elmore County for reckless murder upon completion of the investigation into the fatal crash.

We have requested an arrest mugshot of Gann and will update when it is available.

The teen killed was a passenger in the 2017 Hyundai Tucson Gann was driving when it left Upper River Road that evening and struck a tree. He was transported to the Elmore County Jail without incident, with bond set at $60,000. Although nothing further is available, the original release following the crash is below.

Montgomery Post — A single-vehicle crash at approximately 8:55 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, has claimed the life of a Tallassee juvenile. The teen was a passenger of a 2017 Hyundai Tucson driven by Anthony Reed Gann, 28, when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. The youth succumbed to injuries following the crash and was pronounced deceased. The crash occurred on Upper River Road approximately five miles north of Tallassee, in Elmore County. Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
