More scholastic scholarship opportunities are coming to Autauga County, as the Prattville-Autauga Character Coalition will be presenting a $3,500 “Excellence in Character Scholarship” to deserving students in Prattville or Autauga County based on character.

“We are thrilled to be able to provide financial assistance for post-secondary education by recognizing a student that exemplifies the importance of good character in their daily life,” said Greg Duke, President of the Prattville-Autauga Character Coalition. “Many scholarships reward academic performance or athletic achievement, but few are truly based on the importance of good character. And, we know good character creates a firm foundation for true success in school and in life.”

The Prattville-Autauga Character coalition will be giving out two separate scholarships this year.

The first will be award to a graduating senior in Autauga County or the City of Prattville who plans on enrolling in post-secondary education, such as a two to four-year college, community college etc.

The second $3,500 scholarship will be given to an individual who has already graduated in Prattville or Autauga County.

Applicants are required to complete an application and to provide three letters of recommendation. Applications must be received by March 26, 2021 and will be reviewed by the Prattville-Autauga Character Coalition Scholarship Committee.

The top applicants will be invited to participate in an interview process to be held during the week of April 5-9, 2021.

“We’re so excited to be working alongside the Prattville-Autauga Character Coalition, as we all work toward helping Autauga County students achieve their dreams,” said Kristi Pieper, Director of Marketing and Communications at the Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce. “It’s important that students are recognized for not their academic and athletic achievements, but for their character as well.”
