UPDATE: We have learned of a GoFundMe account set up prior to arrest of Mason Moore and Elbert Lowe. We have messaged the organizer to see if any funds would be used to benefit the now-suspect Mason Moore. Just food for thought before you make a donation to this fundraiser.

The fundraiser claims that the fire was started by a person who broke into the home. According to the Elmore County Sheriff’s Office, Elbert Lowe was originally arrested on burglary and theft charges related to the incident, but those charges were later changed to Arson and Insurance Fraud, as well as the additional arrest of Mason Moore who reportedly was living in the home at the time with his girlfriend. The charge against Lowe were changed when more information came out of the investigation, that also implicated Moore’s involvement, officials said.

Original Article – A fire investigation in Eclectic Feb. 3 that destroyed a residence now includes two arrests in relation to suspected arson and insurance fraud.

Elbert Lowe, 26, and Mason Moore, 24, were booked into the Elmore County Jail last week after an investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.

State Fire Marshal Scott Pilgreen told the EAN that specific details are not being released at this time, as the investigation continues.

“My investigator is still tying up a few loose ends,” Pilgreen said.

What is known is that Lowe was charged with Arson 2nd Degree ($30,000 bond) and Insurance Fraud 1st ($30,000 bond).

Moore was also charged with Arson 1st ($30,000 bond) and Insurance Fraud 1st ($30,000 bond.)

On Feb. 3, first responders, including the Eclectic Fire Department, were called at 330 Hall Burr Road in Eclectic after the report of a fire at a double-wide trailer on that property.

The residence was fully involved and destroyed by the fire, Pilgreen said, adding there were no reported injuries relating to the fire.

The Eclectic Police Department and Elmore County Sheriff’s Office also assisted with the initial investigation.

From the Eclectic Fire Department:

On Wednesday Feb. 3 at 3:15p.m. EFD responded to Hall Burr Road for a residential structure fire. Friendship, Red Hill, and Tallassee were called for automatic aid. First arriving units found the residence completely burned to the ground and canceled the other departments. It was estimated that the fire had been burning for at least 1 1/2 to 2 hours before anyone saw it. The fire marshal and sheriff’s office are investigating this fire. No injuries were reported. The picture (shown above) was taken when EMS 835 arrived on scene. Also on scene were Engines 801, 802, and Tanker 811.
