The United States Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force has officially notified CrimeStoppers that Murder suspect Michael Lewis is in Police custody.  He is no longer wanted by Law Enforcement.

Members from the United States Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force took Michael Lewis into custody during the early morning hours of Friday, January 8, 2021.  Anonymous tips through CrimeStoppers led authorities to his location.  Lewis was captured fleeing a residential home on Wright Street, Montgomery, Alabama. No other details of his arrest were released.

Michael Lewis was wanted for the December 19, 2020 Murder of William Elmore III.

On December 16, 2020, Montgomery County Commissioner Ronda Walker announced a $10,000 donation to Central Alabama CrimeStoppers’ reward fund.  A $1,000 Reward was offered through CrimeStoppers for the arrest of Michael Lewis. The funds for the reward are being paid out of the donation.

“You have a role in this as well. When you see something, say something. If you know someone who has an outstanding warrant against them, someone carrying an illegal firearm, someone who committed a crime, please call CrimeStoppers with good information and you will get cash,” Walker said.

Note: A criminal charge is an accusation. The defendant is assumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

On Saturday, December 19, 2020, at approximately 1:10 p.m., Montgomery Police Patrol units responded to 2105 East South Boulevard (Baptist South) in reference to a subject shot. The victim was identified as William Elmore III and was suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound to the chest. Throughout the investigation, detectives learned that the shooting occurred in the 4100 Block of Troy Hwy. On Tuesday, December 29, 2020, Elmore was overtaken by his injuries and pronounced deceased. Evidence led to a warrant for Murder secured against Michael Lewis DOB: 06/30/1982.
