Paula Sargent, owner of The Gab Salon, and Rachel Turner, owner of The Yellow Daffodil Boutique in Wetumpka, came together and decided to hold a fun event in Downtown to kick off the Christmas celebrations.

After word spread that this event would be happening, other businesses in the downtown area wanted to help bring joy to the community by participating.

The festivities included cookies and milk with Santa and The Griswolds located outside of The Gab and TYDB, Christmas coloring sheets with a minion provided outside of The Craft House, making of reindeer food provided outside of Copperhouse Deli, Hot cocoa served by We-2 Nutrition and a visit with The Grinch.

Many smiling faces were seen in Downtown Wetumpka last night and people seemed hopeful for a better year to come. Debbie Tyree a 12-year resident of Wetumpka was out enjoying the evening with friends and family said “They are so fabulous to hold this event for the children. I’m thankful there are people keeping the spirit alive, especially for this time during COVID.”

Paula Sargent said when asked what she thought of the turnout “I was very pleased with the turnout. Even in such cool weather. I loved seeing everyone smiling and so much happiness. The other business owners that helped make the event a success was also pleased with the turnout. We hope that everyone enjoyed it enough to make it a new annual event. We love our city and love seeing people turnout for our events.”

Angie Briggum, a participant last night and 42-year resident of Wetumpka said, “I shop these places and love being able to support local businesses. I love what downtown is becoming. The community here recently has grown so much, and we are so proud of it.”
