ELMORE/AUTAUGA NEWS
If you have been following the restoration work being done at Vine Hill Presbyterian Church of Jones in Autauga County, and would like to see it in person, here is your chance.
The Old Autauga Historical Society is overseeing renovations to the church, built in 1887. It is currently not usually open to the public, but it will be on Saturday, Nov. 14, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m..
Please consider joining the OAHS. Membership is just $10 a year. All work being done to historic structures within Autauga County by the OAHS is funded strictly through membership and donations. There is a link with more information on becoming a member at the bottom of this article, within a story we did earlier this week.
From OAHS President Larry Caver:
“I realize that there are folks who did NOT attend the OAHS meeting last Sunday at VINE HILL PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH due to concerns about group settings and COVID.
Since we will NOT be having tropical issues, I plan to UNLOCK the gate and church this SATURDAY, Nov. 14, 2020, so that random visitors can go inside the church, cemetery, on their own. I will probably be up on the scaffold so I will wave from afar.”
Directions to Church: Take US Hwy. 82 to Billingsley. Turn LEFT on CR 1. Go until you see CR 16, turn right. Go to Jones. Turn right on CR 103 BEFORE Jones Baptist Church. Go about one mile, then turn right on CR 22. Go to top of hill. Vine Hill Presbyterian Church is located on left. It is marked with a church sign.
