SPECIAL TO THE ELMORE/AUTAUGA NEWS

My heart is anchored in serving the people of Elmore County. This is where I chose to land and raise my family many years ago after finishing my Bachelors at Auburn University. One of the great things about this place is that I never meet a stranger. I am always coming across amazing people wherever I go who are part of our community. My hope is to share with you some of the great people living among us each week.

This week my citizen spotlight is on Carol Pugh. Carol has worked serving Elmore County at the local County Extension Office for 40 years. Extension is the community outreach education of our two land grant universities, Auburn University & Alabama A&M. She is a master gardener who enjoys spending time outside and on Lake Martin.

Her years with Extension have brought unmeasurable experience she shares with those in the community when they visit the office off Queen Ann Road in Wetumpka. She is always helpful and kind. She assists many regional extension agents with programming needs and scheduling educational events.

Carol became a grandmother just three weeks ago. Sweet Nash has stolen her heart. The community and local farmers are thankful for Carol and all the lives she touches along the way with Extension and truly hope we can steal a few more years of her time.

If you ever need a plant identified, soil boxes, or just a research article on fruit trees- just know Carol is just a phone call away. She will get you in touch with an Auburn Specialist to answer your questions.
