Millbrook, County Officials Gathering to Make Major Announcement Regarding Economic Development, Recreational Tourism in Millbrook

ELMORE/AUTAUGA NEWS

A few weeks ago, the announcement was made that the City of Millbrook and the Elmore County Commission had joined together to purchase two parcels of land off of Hwy. 14 near the Grandview YMCA that would make a big impact on economic development. Today the rest of the story is being revealed as officials are gathered on site off Dismukes Road.

The Elmore/Autauga News is there to cover the announcements. A two-year plan which has involved officials from the City of Millbrook, Elmore County Commission, Elmore Board of Education, Elmore County Economic Development Authority and the Grandview YMCA will be unveiled.

A huge sports and recreation multi-plex will be located on that property that will bring about new economic development and recreational tourism opportunities to benefit the entire county.

A Master plan was presented in 2019 and the final plan was adopted by the group in February of this year.

In March a committee met with local landowner Jim Laney to discuss the purchase of 54 acres of land. A secondary parcel owned by Robert Stephens and his family was another key element for further economic development. With those purchases now complete, more details will emerge today at the press conference.

Those land purchases combined with the existing 189 acres owned by the Grandview YMCA will create “The Fields at Seventeen Springs” complex. It will be divided into three phases of construction, which will include multiple new sports fields, among other things.

We will have much more on this announcement later today after the press conference to include artist renderings of the planned construction.
