KimberLia’s Offers Delicious Food in Popup Grocery Store Concept

My mouth is watering and I can’t wait for Wednesday to get here.

I just ordered a spinach, onion and bacon quiche and a homemade key lime pie from Lia Muir, one of the owners of KimberLia’s, a fabulous restaurant in downtown Prattville.

Muir has just started offering a popup grocery store three days a week.  The store will be open on Wednesdays and Fridays from 4 to 6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The concept is simple: call 334-568-2400 and place your order. Your order will be placed outside the restaurant on a table. You can place your check or cash in the mailbox or pay by Venmo.

The restaurant is offering either the curbside pickup or delivery (within Prattville city limits).

Muir said she also had several people on Saturday who just showed up. She said they stayed apart outside and waited until she got their order ready. Saturday was the first day of the restaurant’s popup grocery store.

“It was fun and nice to be back,” Muir said. “I haven’t been in my building for a month.”   She said the first day was successful. “I had not only my personal friends show up, but also people who drove from Wetumpka to buy a quiche and a key lime pie.”

She offers a variety of items from the quiches to chicken, steaks, pork tenderloins and pork bellies. You can also buy a bottle of wine or a case of beer.  This week she is putting together bags of spices to season the meats she sells. The spice bags will only cost $1. A full menu is available and accompanies this story.

Muir said she must be extra careful not to be around other people because she has lung problems and has been on a ventilator three times. She said her business partner Kim Powell had been offering to-go orders for the past few weeks.

“It went well at first, but people don’t have the money to eat out every night,” Muir said. “We were having to pay a cook and made the decision that it wasn’t profitable to continue with to-go orders.”

KimberLia’s is located at 243 South Court Street in historic downtown Prattville across from the fountain.
