We need something to make us laugh right now, and the Autauga County Probate Office has just the ticket!
The Autauga County Probate Office conducts a future voter program in the Autauga County school system. This program encourages youth (K4 to 5th grade) to learn about the voting process.
However, with the current shutdown of schools, Probate Judge Kim Kervin and staff are unable to visit targeted age groups, so they have come up with a creative and FUN idea to encourage voting!
From now until next Friday, you can submit a video offering your vote on your favorite sandwich. The choices are Pickled Pig Ear, Peanut Butter and Jelly and Ham and Cheese. The results will be revealed April 3, and at 3 p.m. that day there will be a live Facebook video and competition. Prattville Police Chief Mark Thompson and Prattville Progress Reporter Marty Roney will go head to head on a sandwich eating contest, featuring the most favored sandwich!
Make sure to visit the Facebook page and check out some of the hilarious videos. We all need a laugh right now!! https://www.facebook.com/Autauga-County-Probate-Office-Future-Voter-Program-111578653804874/
Make sure you like the page, then post your video to the page! Keep Sharing those videos! Remember, the Voting and Videos end at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 3, 2020. The Sandwich Eating Contest will be shared LIVE at 3:00 p.m.
“We will certainly be using social distancing for the filming of the video, and voters are encouraged to watch the sandwich eating contest from their homes on their phones and computers,” Kervin said.
For the record, I would LOVE to see a lot of videos voting for Pickled Pig Ear!
And, seriously, take the time to go and watch some of the videos! It is apparently some of Chief Thompson’s officers have a favorite!
