A police pursuit that began around 8 a.m. today in Wetumpka ended in Montgomery about 30 minutes later, when the suspect vehicle wrecked at Madison and Capitol.

Wetumpka Police Officers had stopped a vehicle occupied by four males and ran the vehicle tag. They learned that felony warrants were out for a person in the vehicle. The vehicle then left the scene, sparking a high-speed pursuit from Wetumpka, to Elmore, Coosada to I-65 and into Montgomery.

After the wreck, subjects fled on foot and were pursued by officers. Three are now in custody, but their identities have not yet been released, according to Wetumpka Police Lt. Ella Roberts. “We are so appreciative of all of the agencies that assisted in this pursuit, and extremely grateful that no officers or citizens were injured,” she said.

Participating agencies included Wetumpka, Elmore County Sheriff’s deputies, Millbrook Police Officers, Coosada Police Officers, Montgomery Police, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Troopers and Capital City Police.

We will have updates as they become available.
