The W.E.L.C.O.M.E Center in Millbrook will be cancelling their Pantry Food Drop Thursday, March 26 due to the ongoing COVID-19 epidemic.

Those needing extra food under emergency situations will be evaluated as needed.

However, the W.E.L.C.O.M.E. Center will remain open for normal hours, which is every Thursday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Instead of allowing people inside to pick up their food, the center will be using a drive through system to eliminate personal contact.

People will not have to sign off for their food, the W.E.L.C.O.M.E Center will take care of those duties. Individuals will officially sign for their food at a later date.

“We’ve had great support from the City of Millbrook and will continue to be open every Thursday moving forward until we’re told not to do so,” said WC Volunteer, Walt McNeely.

McNeely says the center tried the drive-thru format for the first time on Thursday, March 19 and that the results were extremely positive.
