Big Fish Challenge Kayak Fishing Tournament Coming To Wetumpka May 16; Open to Public

WETUMPKA, ALABAMA – On May 16th, the Elmore County Economic Development Authority, City of Wetumpka, Wetumpka Area Chamber of Commerce, and Main Street Wetumpka will host the River Region Kayak Anglers Big Fish Challenge on the Coosa River.  The entry fee is $20 and is open to anyone wishing to participate.

Registration will be May 15th at the City of Wetumpka Administrative Building (408 S Main Street, Wetumpka, AL) at 6:00 p.m. followed by a captain’s meeting at 7:00 p.m. All entry fees will be paid to the top 3 anglers.

In addition to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prize money; there will be a $500 big fish prize, $100 tagged fish reward, $100 best photo contest, and numerous door prizes including cash.  The first 50 anglers to register will receive a t-shirt and a “Hawg Trough” measuring board.

Put-in sites will include Gold Star Park, Coosa River Adventures, Coosa Outdoor Center, Corn Creek, and Jordan Dam.  Tournament starts at “first safe light” and concludes at 3:00 pm. The public is invited to attend “weigh-in” and door prize drawings at Gold Star Park Wetumpka, Alabama.

The River Region Kayak Anglers was formed to encourage local kayak anglers from central Alabama and surrounding areas to meet up for get togethers, trade days, and tournaments.
