Tuesday’s City Council, Feb. 18 meeting opened with Mayor Bill Gillespie’s point of privilege directed towards Prattville’s very own Cub Scout Pack 111.

Several members of the pack joined the mayor at the front of the room to be recognized for their efforts to stop littering in the Prattville community. The group, which travels to Newton Park once a month to clean up trash, made several banners which read:

“Nature’s Critters Don’t Litter” and “Litter is Bitter So Be a Litter Quitter.”

“We’re so thankful for everything the Cub Scouts do for the Prattville community. Some of these banners will even be on the side of the city’s new garbage trucks once we get those in,” said Gillespie.

“What they do every month is a challenge, but it makes their end goal that much more rewarding. Our partnership with them has been outstanding.”

Gillespie then moved on to recognizing the Human Resource Staff for the City of Prattville and thanked them for all the hard work they put into making the city a better version of itself.

After that, the City Council moved on to addressing the night’s agenda – all items of which were unanimously passed.
