Henry Hines Announcement for Elmore County District I Commissioner

I am Henry Hines, and I am a candidate for District I Commissioner.  I would like to make you aware of the duties and responsibilities of the Elmore County Commission, my qualifications, and commitment to properly fulfill them. Following, I will briefly expound on the aforementioned areas which make me qualified to serve as your District I County Commissioner.

By law, the county commission is responsible for appropriating funds for the county government that includes, but not limited to, the following departments: Sheriff, Highway, Probate, Revenue, and Indigent Care.

We do not need a novice running county business. The person selected to serve as your representative should have experience in appropriating funds, have relationship skills, and possess the ability to make sound decisions. This should be a person of integrity who is service oriented with a strong work ethic.

I am not a novice.  The Elmore County’s budget is $34,000,000 this year.  I recently retired from Southern Pipe and Supply with a budget of $500,000,000 and managed stores in four Southeastern states giving me experience in this arena.  These duties require skills to build and maintain good relationships which are necessary to be an effective team. This experience improved my effectiveness as a leader and my abilities to collaborate and work with others, and I am prepared to represent District I and Elmore County as a whole.

I am service oriented.  Actually, that is why I am running for this job.  It is more than a position.  It is a job.  I have always been service minded.  I served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves, and a past member of the Alabaster City Council.  I am presently involved in HOBO on Lake Jordan.

I am honest and hardworking.  I started working at age 14 with a special permit, riding my motorcycle to Vic Weldon’s store in Wetumpka. I am a graduate of Wetumpka High School and successful product of the Elmore County Schools.  Today, two of my grandchildren are enrolled and their mother teaches in the system, and my three children have college degrees. I can safely say I am pro-education, and I will strive to support our local schools.

I have been married forty-six years and attend Union Congregational Christian Church.  My mother retired as a lunchroom manager, and my father retired from the District 2 Highway Department revealing that my “roots” are in Elmore County. Fulfilling their dream, I would like to see it prosper.  Our thousand miles of roads and bridges need to be both maintained, and improved.  Making broadband available will be one of many endeavors for business, homeowners, and educational reasons.  Just like HOBO is involved in cleaning our lakes, trash concerns along our roadways need to be addressed.

When elected, I, Henry Hines, will work diligently in upholding our constitutionally given duties, and  I will assert those qualities of leadership needed to prosper our county.   I can only do this if I am elected, so please Vote “HENRY HINES” for District I Commissioner!
