Central Alabama Community Foundation Awards 17 Grants totaling $88,082 to Area Organizations

The Central Alabama Community Foundation (CACF), along with affiliates Autauga Area Community Foundation (AACF) and Elmore County Community Foundation (ECCF) on Thursday, Feb. 6, awarded $88,082 in grants to 17 Central Alabama nonprofits that provide support in arts and community building in Autauga, Elmore, Montgomery, Coffee, Dale, Geneva, Henry, Houston, Lowndes, and Macon counties.

The grants awarded Thursday are part of the Community Trust Grants and Field of Interest Grants Cycle that CACF manages. Nonprofits receiving 2020 CACF, AACF, and ECCF Grants include:

CENTRAL ALABAMA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

Arts Grant Recipients:

– Alabama Dance Theatre received $7,000 for MPS on Their Toes, with 1,000 Montgomery Public Schools students experiencing the performance of Cinderella at the Davis Theatre.

– ClefWorks received $10,000 to bring a string quartet to perform for Festival Outreach Week.

– That’s My Child received $8,928 to update the culinary arts equipment at That’s My Dog Jr., providing enhanced training and food handling certifications for 250 students this year.

– The King’s Canvas received $8,000 to provide scholarships for 100 students to participate in one

semester of the MPS Arts and Entrepreneurial Enhancement After School Program.

Community Building Grant Recipients:

– Alabama Red Cross received $7,500 to install 500 smoke detectors in high risk areas in Lowndes, Macon, and Montgomery counties.

– Capitol Heights United Methodist Church received $7,000 for improvements to its meeting facilities and playground in support of its Capitol Heights After School Program.

– Common Ground Montgomery received $5,520 to send summer camp students on a mission trip.

– Conservation Alabama received $7,000 to address basic wastewater needs in Lowndes County.

AUTAUGA AREA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

– Alabama Shakespeare Festival received $2,500 to provide for 250 Autauga County students to attend SchoolFest and receive supporting educational resources.

– Autauga Prattville Public Library received $1,000 to purchase a wireless LCD projector for its community programming.

– Bridge Builders® Alabama received $2,500 to provide for Autauga County high school juniors and seniors to attend its training program.

ELMORE COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

– Alabama Shakespeare Festival received $2,500 to provide for 250 Elmore County students to attend SchoolFest and receive supporting educational resources.

– Bridge Builders® Alabama received $2,500 to provide for Elmore County high school juniors and seniors to attend its training program.

– The Kelly-Kelly Fitzpatrick Memorial Gallery received $2,500 to purchase chairs, tables, a PA system, and other equipment for its educational outreach activities.

TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE GRANTS

– Alabama Shakespeare Festival received $2,134 to provide active shooter response training for its staff.

– Easterseals Central Alabama received $2,500 for board development training.

– Montgomery Christian School received $2,500 for development of new marketing and fund development tools.

– Teens Empowerment Awareness with Resolutions, Inc. received $2,500 to improve documentation and billing practices.

FIELD OF INTEREST GRANTS

Margaret & Auston Bridges Fund for Historical Preservation Grant

– Cain’s Chapel United Methodist Church received $750 to update and print the Bicentennial publication, Passing It On.

– Main Street Wetumpka received $750 to create and produce signage for community landmarks.

Clara Lull Robison Beautification Grant

– Main Street Wetumpka received $2,500 to replace the fencing along the Fall Line to enhance the landmark’s aesthetics and safety.

These grants awards represent an investment of $88,082 in our community.
