Prattville’s Way Off Broadway Theatre Accepting Proposals for 2021-22 Production Seasons

Prattville’s Way Off Broadway Theatre is accepting proposals for its 2021 and 2022 production seasons, as well as for activities that enhance the theatre’s community outreach. Proposals will be accepted through March 1, 2020. Anyone 18 years and older in Prattville and surrounding areas is welcome to submit proposals and should send them to brittany.glenn@prattvilleal.gov via email attachment in PDF or Word Document format, please. Proposals for plays should include basic information about the play, a brief synopsis, cast requirements, preferred time frame, target audience, technical requirements, production team requirements, cost/budget, and other information that you think would be pertinent to the proposal. A completed director’s agreement is also required with submittal.

WOBT also is accepting proposals for other activities, such as workshops, improv nights, repertory classes, musical activities, etc. If you are interested in submitting a proposal for events and activities other than plays, please provide a general synopsis of the project, including time frame, target audience, technical requirements, production team requirements, budget/cost and other information that you think would be important to the project.

SUBMITTAL DEADLINE: Proposals will be accepted until midnight, March 1, 2020. WHO IS ELIGIBLE: Proposals are welcome from anyone 18 years and older in Prattville and surrounding areas. HOW TO SUBMIT: Submit proposals as email attachments in .pdf format or Word document to brittany.glenn@prattvilleal.gov. LIMIT: Only two proposals may be submitted per person.

Suggestions for shows may be submitted without being considered as a director.

REQUIREMENTS:
PLAYS BASIC INFO: Title of show, publishing company, your name and contact info. BRIEF SYNOPSIS: Brief description of play, especially if the play is not well-known.

CAST REQUIREMENTS: Approximate number of cast needed, gender and age breakdown, etc. PREFERRED TIME-FRAME: WOBT shows typically open in December (Christmas play), February, April, July, and September. Please indicate which month or months you would prefer and which you cannot do. Include estimated dates for auditions, starting rehearsals, and frequency of rehearsals.

TARGET AUDIENCE: All Audiences; 17 and Up; _ 13 and Up; _ Children

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS: How big/complex do you think the set will need to be? What will the costumes require? Are there any aspects of the show that you think may be challenging to execute or hard to find? If so, what is your plan to deal with these challenges?

PERSONNEL: What are your needs in terms of a production team (Assistant Director, Stage Manager, Choreographer, Music, etc.)? Do you have people in mind for these positions?

FINANCIAL OUTLOOK: Your best estimate of how much your show will cost to produce. Please include the estimated cost of rights/royalties and the production costs (to include set, costumes, props, etc.).

DIRECTOR’S APPLICATION: Complete the Director’s Application and attach it to your proposal. OUTREACH ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS Proposals also are being accepted for activities that enhance WOBT’s community outreach. These activities might be: improv night, musical events, youth workshops, repertory classes, gospel singings, school outreach, etc. PROPOSALS SHOULD INCLUDE: activity or event description, proposed timeframe, detailed outline of activity or event, cost/budget for production of activity or event, technical requirements, volunteers needed, etc.
