With the Help of the Community, Chicken Salad Chick and Elmore/Autauga News Raise Over 1000 Pounds in Food Donations

By Staff Reports

The Chicken Salad Chick and Elmore Autauga News “Tis’ the Season for Giving and Give-A-Ways” food drive has come to a close after two weeks.

We’re pleased to announce that over 1000 pounds of food were raised during that time period, which will be donated to the Autauga Interfaith Care Center in Prattville and the W.E.L.C.O.M.E. Center in Millbrook. 406 pounds will be sent to the AICC, while 630 pounds will be sent to the W.E.L.C.O.M.E. Center.

None of this, however, would be possible without you, the community.

We had stations set up at the Millbrook and Prattville Food Outlets, Millbrook Wal-Mart, and Prattville Publix for the past two weeks. We would take multiple trips to each location every week, and were always pleasantly surprised to see that each bin would be full after the last pickup. Both communities have been so supportive and generous towards this event, and we would like to give our heartfelt gratitude to you all.

We would also like to thank Denise Brown from AICC, Deanne Pendley from the W.E.L.C.O.M.E. Center, Pamela Busby from Chicken Salad Chick, Color Copy Shop, and Marvin’s. We thoroughly enjoyed working with you, and we hope to have more of these give-a-ways in the future.

On December 9th Brown, Pendley, Busby, and members of the Elmore Autauga News staff gathered at Chicken Salad Chick to officially bring the food drive to a close and to announce the winners of the give-a-way! We congratulate Kim. C. Newberry, Brooke Odem., and Karla Snider, as you all won a free Chicken Salad Chick dinner platter! With the help of you three, and everyone else who donated to us, we thank you.
