Auburn vs Georgia: Prediction

By Andrew Edwards

At this point, we should probably all realize it. These teams have really good defenses, and if you’re expecting a BIG 12 shootout then just go ahead and put those thoughts away.

This game is going to be an absolute battle, and in the end, it’s going to rely heavily on the QB play of both teams.

Starting with Auburn, Bo Nix has not had his best performances this year against ranked opponents. In the for games that Auburn has faced ranked teams, Nix has thrown for 579 yards, 5 TDs, 6 INTs, and has a completion percentage of 45.

Compared against non-ranked teams, Nix has 1,219 passing yards, 7 Tds, 0 INTs, and a completion percentage of 66.

It’s a pretty resounding difference.

However, the Tigers have been able either win or keep all those ranked games close due to their great defense. If the Tigers want any shot of beating Georgia, they need Bo to play better against good competition.

It hasn’t always been pretty for Georgia QB Jake Fromm, either.

A once thought of top-10 pick in the draft, Fromm has seemingly regressed slightly this year from his previous two seasons – partly due to the mass exodus of Georgia wide receivers after last year. The majority of Fromm’s games this year have seen him pass for well under 200 yards, with the low point coming against Kentucky where he threw for only 35 yards.

Again, like with Nix, Fromm will have to perform better against an Auburn D-line that will take away the run.

Prediction:

This was a tough one because I think that both teams are pretty evenly matched. Georgia probably has a slight advantage on overall defense, but the Tigers certainly have a better defensive line. I do believe that Nix will play better in this game, and that the Tigers will have solid performance from freshman running back D.J Williams. They game is also in Jordan-Hare, one of the toughest places to play in the whole country. I like Auburn in a close one.
