Preview: Auburn vs Arkansas

Staff Writer

Auburn will travel to Razorback stadium this weekend to take on Arkansas in a game that, like Alabama, isn’t gaining much national attention.

The Tigers have won their last three games against Arkansas by 38.6 points and have won five out the last six in the series. Auburn is coming off a tough loss against Florida, but the team had a bye week this past weekend and look the regain the momentum they had before losing in the swamp.

Arkansas is coming off a tough loss of their own, losing to Kentucky this past weekend 24-20 in a game they led 13-0.

Key Matchup: Arkansas Rushing Attack vs Auburn D-Line

It’s no secret. Auburn has possibly the best defensive line in the country. Arkansas ranks 84th in country in rush yards per game, sitting at 148.7. If Arkansas wants to keep this game close at all, they have to find at least have an average run game – otherwise, it could get ugly quickly.

Player to Watch: AUB WR Anthony Schwartz

Schwartz is going to be the fastest player on the field, no matter who they line up to cover him. But, Auburn head coach Gus Malzhan has not used him to his full potential of late. Against Florida, Schwartz had zero catches and one rush for negative four yards. With JaTarvious Whitlow being out for an extended period of time, look to see if Malzahn can create a game plan for Schwartz and take some pressure off of Bo Nix.

Currently, the Tigers sit at a 18 point favorite over the Razorbacks.

The game is set to kickoff at 11:00 AM this Saturday on the SEC Network.
